Rex Ryan sorry for gesture at MMA event (AP)

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan apologized Sunday for making an obscene gesture at a mixed martial arts event. Ryan was booed Saturday night while doing a TV interview at the MMA event in the Bank Atlantic Center, the Florida Panthers' home arena. He was smiling when caught making the gesture by a cell phone camera.

Stars F Lehtinen activated off IR (AP)

Dallas Stars right wing Jere Lehtinen was activated off injured reserve for Sunday's game against the Phoenix Coyotes. Lehtinen, a member of Finland's Olympic team, missed the previous six games with a neck injury. The 36-year-old Lehtinen had three goals and eight assists in 32 games this season.

Sweat scores 31 as K-State beats No. 22 Iowa State (AP)

Maybe a week off was all Kansas State needed. Ashley Sweat scored 31 points and the Wildcats snapped a three-game losing streak with a 73-67 win over No. 22 Iowa State on Sunday. It was the Wildcats' second win over a ranked opponent in four tries this season and kept Iowa State winless in Manhattan since the 2006-07 season.

Los Angeles Clippers center Chris Kaman missed his second straight game Sunday night against Cleveland because of a sprained left ankle. Kaman, who leads the Clippers with 20.2 points a game and is second on the team with 9.1 rebounds, participated in pregame warmups, but the decision was made that he would sit out.
